WordPress Assignment: Due 9/10

Each student should build a WordPress site on their own domain that presents their professional profile and research interests. How you want to use this website is up to you but it should at the very least be a place to control and present your academic self. You may also use it as a blog or research space. When you present your website to the class you will also describe how you plan to use it and how it fits into your larger digital persona as an academic.

Podcasting Assignment: Due 10/1

Working with a partner, produce a 5-10 minute audio segment that explains a key word in the study of religion (e.g. myth, ritual, belief, etc.) Your segment should use some sort of example that will illustrate the word you are explaining. Your segment should take full advantage of the various ways audio can communicate. Be creative. Pitch your explainer to an imagined audience of college freshmen and interested adults outside the academy. Make it interesting and fun.

Omeka Assignment: Due 11/12

Build an Omeka website with a digital collection. If you can, make it somehow related to your research interests. The actual items are not very important, learning the process of building the collection is the focus. Your Omeka site should have at least 10 items, two collections, and one exhibit. The exhibit should include an at least 500 word essay along with the items.
