There are two presentation assignments in this course. See the details below. Students should send me via Slack DM two suggested dates and your choice of a Debates chapter and a DH project by class time on 9/4.
Debates in the Digital Humanities
Choose a chapter from the 2012 edition of Debates in the Digital Humanities that you will present to the class. In your presentation you should address the following:
- a summary of the article and its argument
- what other readings that we have done does this chapter connect to?
- what issues that we have discussed in class does this chapter address?
- what are the strengths of the chapter and its argument?
- what are the weaknesses of the chapter and its argument?
- how does this chapter help us think about digital humanities within religious studies?
Digital Humanities Project Review
Choose a digital humanities project from that you will present to the class. In your presentation you should address the following:
- a brief summary and demonstration of the project
- what kind of digital humanities project is this? how would you classify it?
- how is it similar to other projects we have looked at?
- how does the project illustrate or answer questions or issues we have discussed in class?
- what are the strengths of the project?
- what are its weaknesses?
- how easy or difficult is it to use?
- who would use this project and for what?
